How Parents Can Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Their Accounts?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an essential security feature designed to add an extra layer of protection to your Family Dashboard account. By enabling 2FA, you ensure that only authorized individuals can access your account. With 2FA enabled, a temporary code is sent to your email or phone during each login, making unauthorized access nearly impossible.

Follow the instructions below to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

  1. Log in to your Family Dashboard
  2. Click on your name or email address in the top-right corner of the page
  3. From the dropdown menu, select Account Settings

  1. Navigate to the Security Settings section.
  2. Locate the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) toggle and switch it to Enable

  1. When enabling 2FA, the system will detect your registered email address.
  2. Click on Email Code to receive a temporary code

  1. Check your email inbox for the code and enter it in the field.
  2. Once the code is validated, email-based 2FA will be enabled.

Info
Note: With email-based 2FA enabled, a temporary verification code will be sent to your email inbox every time you log in. You’ll need to enter this code along with your password to access your account.

Once Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enabled, you have access to additional methods to provide flexibility and ensure secure account access in case your primary method (email or phone) is unavailable. These options include:

  • Email Address:
By default, a one-time code will be sent to your registered email address each time you log in. Ensure your email is verified to enable this method.

  • Phone Number:
Add and verify a phone number to receive one-time codes via text message. This serves as an alternative to email-based verification. To enable:

    • Click Add phone number.
    • Enter your number and complete the verification process by entering the code sent to your phone.
  • MFA Mobile Auth App:
Enable this option to use a mobile authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy. These apps generate secure, time-sensitive codes that you can use to log in, even offline.

InfoNote: These additional methods ensure you have multiple secure ways to log in, giving you flexibility and peace of mind if you lose access to your primary verification method.

What to Expect After Setup

Once 2FA is enabled, every time you log in to your Family Dashboard, you will:

  1. Enter your password as usual.
  2. Provide the verification code sent to your chosen method.

This ensures your account remains secure at all times.
