Overview
Jumbula offers two features for tracking and monitoring a participant's arrival in a classroom; both are vital for safety and accurate record-keeping.
Who is Involved?
- Admins: Configure the rules and permissions in the dashboard.
- Instructors/Staff: Use these tools daily to ensure all participants are accounted for.
- Families: Depending on your settings, parents may use the Jumbula App or website to perform CICO actions for their children.
What is the difference between CICO and Attendance?
While these features may seem similar, Attendance and CICO serve different operational purposes:
Attendance
Attendance records whether a student is participating in a specific class or program session. You can use attendance reports to keep track of the number of classes a student has attended. Attendance is typically managed by the instructor, admin, manager, or contributor via the roster at the start of the scheduled program time.
Check-In/Check-Out (CICO)
CICO tracks the exact moment a child arrives at or departs from the school, camp, or facility, often including who authorized the drop-off or pick-up. Staff or families record the exact timestamp of arrival at the facility, which helps ensure the child leaves with a verified adult.

Synchronizing Data
To save time and reduce manual entry, you can link these two functions together in the system settings. To do that, navigate to Toolbox > Check-in/Check-out > Settings. Check Synchronize attendance and check in to merge the two options.
When this setting is active, the system treats a CICO event as an attendance marker. When children are checked in (CICO), they are automatically marked as "Present" for that day’s attendance, ensuring your rosters are updated instantly without double-entry.
